El Gatio refers to a play on words: the cat patio: GATIO. The reason? When cats go out into their patio or to breathe a different air, they feel free, happy, in their own world…

The idea of El Gatio is that it is a place they can come to after having suffered abandonment or abuse. They come here to forget, to rehabilitate, to trust humans again, to be happy, and to breathe a different air, one made by and for them.

That's why, at El Gatio, we're dedicated to rescuing, protecting, rehabilitating, and finding new homes for domestic cats.

We have several plans through which we can receive various types of assistance and, at the same time, allow many people to get involved in this work.
